Mr. Bradford's 4th Grade Blog-February 22, 2019

Book Report: . I appreciate your help in keeping your child on track with their Biography reading. A reminder that March 13th is the deadline and when we begin working on the report in class. I gave them a pre-write/rough draft to work on while they are reading the book. The most important information to have down will be the time line. We will edit and work on the remainder of the report in class.

We are working on a narrative non-fiction text called Antarctic Journal. Students are researching domain-specific vocabulary and sequencing this story, along with a non-fiction leveled reader.

The invertebrate X games presentations were so realistic a student asked, “Will any of the invertebrates really compete in the X- games this year?” I told them that each of these animals is so amazing that they compete everyday with pretty amazing skills.

We are off to the plant kingdom.

Social Studies

Students finished up their travel brochures on Thursday— a day or two later than I anticipated. But there really are some beautiful spots to research our West! We will spend some class time on Monday sharing them with the rest of the class. We will complete the study guides for the western region in class on Tuesday. They will bring then home to help them study for the region quiz on Friday, March 1st. Daily Geography will stay out West this week as we look at a physical map of California.

This week we will continue to explore equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing. We will then move into reducing fractions by using GCF and divisibility rules. Next up will be comparing fractions.

Language Arts/Writing

This week we will continue to write paragraphs using adjectives in our compare and contrast papers. Adjective test this week.
