I am so proud of how the 4th graders are working in class on their state reports! They made great progress last week. Paragraphs we will be working on this week include Government, About the Land, Economy and Tourism. My goal is for all of the students to be finished with the written portion of the report by Friday, May 17th. Some students might be bringing some things to work on at home to finish up by Friday.
As a reminder, the 4th grade State Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21st in Donovan Hall. Parents are more than welcome to come! An invitation has also been extended to the 2nd and 3rd grade classes. As a 4th grade class, we will be creating a State Scavenger Hunt for the younger kids to work on while attending the State Fair. This will be a great way for the 4th graders to showcase their work and answer any questions.
The students will be using a tri-fold board to help them with the oral presentation part of their state fair project. These boards can be purchased at Winkies, Target, or Michaels. Let me know if you have trouble finding one. I will be sending home a guideline to help the 4th graders organize the information on the board. The guideline will include what should be included on the board and suggestions as to where the information might be placed. Students will be working on their boards at home! All the boards should be finished and brought to school by Monday, May 20th. Please reach out if there are questions or concerns!
We took a nice break from Geometry by analyzing Baseball Statistics. This week we return to Geometry by evaluating Acute, Obtuse, and Right Angles. We will also spend some time drawing angles with a protractor. Next up we will classify Triangles.
The 4th Graders will take their last STAR test in math on Monday.
Almost all the college letters are off.
Pronouns and I am poems.
A little interesting side bar to the college letters is that 9/10 boys have chosen a science major. 4/9 girls have also chosen a science major with 2 additional girls choosing an educational major. Wow 13 of the 19 students have chosen a science major as something they would like to study in college.
We are back working from our Venture Mag. and watching a video on the disciples, The Witness.”
