Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli - This week we will continue reading Maniac Magee as our focus is now on class discussion on racial divide and the virtues responsibility and compassion, We will celebrate our completion by watching the movie when we are finished.
This week we will start looking at the rock cycle. Where do all the rocks come from.
The 4th Grade State Fair is on Tuesday, May 21st from 1:30-2:30 in Donovan! Parents are welcome to join us. The 4th graders will be singing their Fifty, Nifty United States song at 1:30 for the 3rd graders and than again at 2:00 for the 2nd graders. Then the students will be given a scavenger hunt to complete. The 4th graders are excited to share their knowledge!
Please have your child bring their tri-fold boards to school on Monday. They can bring them directly to my classroom on Monday morning. I will keep them safe until we set up for the fair on Tuesday.
Students will be doing the Oral Presentation part of their State Reports during class on Wednesday and Thursday. We talked about what should be included in their talks. I will go over this again with the students on Monday. Using a notecard is fine!
This week we continue with Geometry by classifying triangles based on their sides and their angles. We will also learn how to classify Quadrilaterals. In addition, the students will be given a math concept from this past year and partnered with another person in the class. They will then create a presentation for that concept.
Vocabulary: Chapter 16 Vocabulary test Thursday.
Grammar: Unit 4: Adjectives, Adverbs, and Prepositions. We are currently working on Negatives and Prepositions. We will begin reviewing for the Grammar test for the following week.
Writing: Compare and Contrast papers. This week students will begin their compare and contrast papers!
Finding God: Sessions 21 and 22: Loving God Above All. The focus on the next four sessions is The Ten Commandments. We are currently watching the animated movie The Ten Commandments.
