Dinner Dance Tax Info
Dear Friends, The 2018 St. Monica School "Be Our Guest" Auction and Dinner Dance was a terrific event and made possible by the efforts of many. A sincere heartfelt thank you to all of the Home & School Team, St. Monica Congregation, Table Captains, Volunteers, our wonderful 8th Graders and their fearless Leaders, Donors, Sponsors, and all of those that attended and contributed to the overall success! For tax purposes please note the following: Donated Items/Experiences, Auction Angel Funds and Underwriting Sponsors were mailed tax letters on January 14th. Purchased Auction Items/Experiences, Fund-A-Need donations, tickets and "extras" purchased at the auction were emailed through the BidPal site. Emailed receipts were previously sent. If you did not receive this email or would like to access your account, you may do so through Bidpal.net/sms2018 and sign in to your account. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to next year's auction!
Sincerely, Your 2018 SMS Auction Co-Chairs Bridget Behrens, Michelle Clintsman, Molly Hoehn & Sarah Imbert
Have you sent in your Box Tops yet???? We need your help! Please look carefully on your pantry items, frozen foods and paper goods for the small rectangular box tops label. You can find extra collection sheets outside of the office or you can send them in loosely in Ziploc bags. This little act helps our school earn money. Thank you for your help.
Notes from the Gym
A busy month of activities in the gym is winding down, but I have a few important details to share as we start this short week together.
First, we will have our February Donuts & Devotions tomorrow morning at 7:30, and I am looking forward to continuing our conversation about living our faith on the court or playing field. We will again focus on sportsmanship, and how to be humble in victory or defeat. Please let me know if your child will be attending so I can have the right amount of food.
Next, both our boys and girls 8th grade basketball teams were invited to play in the Padre Serra Tournament. This is so exciting, and we want to support our teams in the stands. In the past, we have offered a fan bus (free of charge) to our students, which assures a lot of energy and enthusiasm for our Raider teams. That being said, I do not want to order a fan bus if there is not enough interest from our students and their families.
So....the boys play next Wednesday, February 27th, at 5:15pm. All of the Padre games are out at Mt. Mary University in Wauwatosa. If we have enough interest, the bus would depart from St. Monica at 4:30, and would return around 6:45/7:00pm. As for our girls, they play at 3:30 on Saturday, March 2nd. The bus would leave around 2:45, and get back to St. Monica around 5:15/5:30. Our girls are combined with Holy Family, so there is a chance that we would share a fan bus with them. I am working to gauge interest first, though.
I need to determine whether we will need buses for these first round Padre games, so can you please let me know by this Friday if your child would ride the bus to and from the games, and which day? Permission slips would then be sent home next week.
Finally, we have completed the Kids Heart Challenge, with our students learning a variety of jumping tricks/styles, and then leaving the gym tired and sweaty. We have done very well with the fundraising portion, too, and are a few hundred dollars shy of our goal. If any of our students would be willing to raise more in donations, I would ask that it is done online or a check sent to school. Our goal was $13,500, and we are currently sitting at $12,812. I truly appreciate our students raising so much money (and awareness) for such an important cause.
Thank you for your support of everything that goes on in the gym.
Blessings, Mrs. Wallner
We are excited to offer new altar server training for students currently enrolled in fifth grade and older. The training consists of two sessions. The first session is an overview of this important ministry. The second is a hands-on training session. Both are required. Visit https://www.st-monica.org/servers/ to sign up for your training sessions. Contact David Bonofiglio (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
Dominican High School Theatre Presents Newsies!
Dominican High School Theatre is proud to present the family-friendly Disney’s NEWSIES. This high-energy, high-flying dance show is based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, and the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.” With hit songs like ‘Santa Fe’, “The World Will Know”, “Once And For All”, and “King of New York”, Dominican Theatre will showcase its dance talent, musical talent, technical expertise, and collaboration with Disney’s NEWSIES. Great for all ages, from kids to grandparents. Get your tickets early as we expect huge crowds.
