Notes from the Gym

The Kids Heart Challenge event was extremely successful, and we were able to reach our lofty goal of raising $13,500.  We actually raised $13,725 as a school, with students of all grade levels jumping rope and raising funds.  I am pleased to announce that the high fundraisers were Charlotte Wabiszewski and Jack Costello, and these two will get to put a pie in the face of me or Mr. Landgraf, which I know they will enjoy!

Our top 12 Kids Heart Challenge earners are as follows:

Charlotte Wabiszewski (5th Grade) - $1000

Jack Costello (1st Grade) - $635

Declan Bell (4th Grade) - $540

Robert Swoboda (2nd Grade) - $415

Camden Clintsman (K-5) - $400

Jack Kuesel (8th Grade) - $400

William Swoboda (5th Grade) - $395

Avery Wisniewski (1st Grade) - $350

Landon Wisniewski (1st Grade) - $350

Miles Martin (3rd Grade) - $330

Emma Voigtman (5th Grade) - $305

Charlie Wronski (4th Grade) - $300

I want to take this time to thank EVERY student who raised money (from $5 to $1000) from the bottom of my HEART!  You have all made an impact on research and education within the American Heart Association, and we all have so much to be proud of as a school.  The prizes are supposed to be delivered later today, so I will get them organized and handed out tomorrow.  Also, we earned a $500 certificate from US Games, which I will use for more PE and recess equipment....this is a wonderful collaboration between the American Heart Association and US Games to support such a great cause.

Please remember that we will offer track this spring, and the practices will begin the first week of April on Mondays and Thursdays right after school.  Can you please let me know if your son/daughter will be taking part on the team this spring, and I can let Coach Gonzales know who to expect.  He also does all of the communicating about meets, practices, etc., so I will share your e-mail address with him.  Looking forward to a super spring season!!

I am excited that Spring is here, but I wanted to take this time to remind our parents that your children need to have their gym shoes here at school through the remainder of the year.  This is the time of year when mud and dirt are brought in from recess, which makes a huge mess of the floor.  I appreciate your support with this.

Finally, we are just over two weeks away from the 72nd Annual Sports Night here at St. Monica.  The event begins with pizza, salad, and dessert at 6:00pm, and also includes the honoring of our 8th grade student-athletes, our featured speaker, raffles and auction items, and our ever-popular 3-point shooting contest.  I know that it will be a great evening, and look for even more details in the coming week.  Come out and support St. Monica Athletics at this fun event!!

Thank you for your support of everything that goes on in the gym!!

Blessings, Mrs. Wallner
