Grade 4 Participation in Athletics

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, 4th grade students are allowed to participate in certain athletic activities.  Competition may look a bit different for this level.  Details will be shared with each sports season.

Participation in the athletic program is limited to students attending St. Monica School and St. Monica Parish. (Specific rules apply for parishioner participation. Contact the Athletic Director for details). If the participation level from the school/parish is not sufficient to adequately field a team, exceptions to this guideline may be made in cooperation with another member of our league affiliation.

Athletic Fees

Each sport carries a participation fee as determined by the Athletic Subcommittee. Parents may contact the Athletic Director or principal if this fee causes a financial hardship for a family.

Athletic Handbook

St. Monica maintains an Athletic Handbook, which outlines the details of offerings, structure, and participation requirements.  All students must meet all criteria outlined in both the SMS Family and Athletic Handbooks in order to maintain eligibility.

Eligibility to Participate 

To maintain eligibility in extra- or co-curricular activities, students must: 

  • be in good academic standing in all coursework

  • adhere to all behavioral expectations set forth in the Raider Way Discipleship and Discipline program

  • remain in alignment with all school policies and expectations as set forth in SMS Family and Athletic Handbooks

  • Students who miss one-half of the school day or more may not participate in extracurricular activities that day
