Jon Arens, Assistant Principal
My name is Jonathan Arens and I am extremely excited to serve as the Assistant Principal for St. Monica School alongside Lynn Leroy and this wonderful staff.
Prior to joining SMS, I served as the Director of Pupil Services and Special Education and as an assistant principal for a public school system in Milwaukee. Before going into administration, I was a special education teacher at the middle school and high school level in both the city of Milwaukee as well as several suburbs. I actually started my career as a business consultant before deciding to make the switch over to education when we moved to Milwaukee from Chicago.
I received my undergraduate degree in English and History from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in Special Education from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I attained my principal and director of instruction licenses from Concordia-Wisconsin, and my pupil services administrator license from Cardinal Stritch.
My grandmother worked as a middle school science teacher at a Catholic school on the South Side of Chicago for many decades, and was a critical influence on me going into teaching. I am excited to get an opportunity to grow as she did within a Catholic school in the same community I am blessed to call home.
